ESPRESSO MARTINI
Legend has it that Dick Bradsell invented this cocktail in 1983 when a young model, now widely popular, walked up to the renowned bartender and requested a drink that would nurse a hangover and bring her back to life in any manner. His solution? Bradsell swiftly pulled a fresh espresso from the newly installed coffee machine in the bar and mixed it with Vodka, Kahlúa, a touch of sugar, gave it a good shake, and strained it into a martini glass. Just like that the modern classic cocktail was born.

NEGRONI
The story of the Negroni begins in 1919 at the Caffè Casoni in Florence. There’s no documented historical account, but it is believed that Count Camillo Negroni invented the drink when he asked Fosco Scarselli to make his favourite cocktail, the Americano, a little stronger. Fosco swapped out the usual soda water with gin and also added an orange garnish, rather than the lemon that is usually served with an Americano.

DRAGONFRUIT AND LYCHEE MARTINI
The Lychee Martini was first served in 1993 at Decibel, in New York. The owner claims his brother began serving the lychee martini at Decibel in Japan, after which the New York location followed suit. The idea was to merge Japanese flavours into American style drinks, rather than the usual Sake! 23 years later, a young budding flavour philanthropist by the name of R. Grey took the classic Lychee Martini cocktail and infused dragonfruit with apple to put Cambridge on the map in creating the Dragonfruit and Lychee Martini.

PORNSTAR MARTINI
The idea came on a warm sunny day in 1999 Capetown, South Africa in bar called Mavericks. It was here that Douglas Ankrah was reading a book titled “Shaken” on his trip to the bar on that day. It sparked a fascinating thought. It made him wonder... What would happen if he combined his favourite flavours at the time; prosecco, vodka, and passionfruit, into one drink?

KIWI TEQUILA SMASH
First appearing in the 1830s, the “smash” (a mixture of spirit, sugar, water and mint, served over crushed ice), peaked in popularity between the 1840s and 1860s as a variation on the julep, its name mirroring its more laid-back character. Now in the 21st century the “smash” has taken on many new names and variations! Here at Grey’s Bars we have blended some unique flavours to create this simple yet vibrant cocktail.
Simplicity at its finest.
